Proper care preserves the beauty and longevity of your rug. Dust and dirt wear down fibers over time, so regular maintenance is essential.

Weekly Care:

Take your rug outside and shake it thoroughly to remove dust. Large rugs may require assistance. If shaking isn’t possible, vacuum gently using a suction-only attachment—never a rotary vacuum. Move the nozzle side to side once or twice a month, and vacuum the back of the rug once or twice a year.

Sun and Rotation:

Expose your rug to direct sunlight once a year for a few hours on each side. This natural sun-bleaching sanitizes and deodorizes the wool. Rotate your rug periodically to promote even wear. Flipping it over for short periods can also help, as many handwoven rugs have beautiful undersides.

Professional Cleaning:

Every 3–5 years, have your rug professionally hand-washed by a specialist. Avoid steam or dry cleaning. True hand-washing uses a pH-balanced shampoo applied with a soft brush and rinsed thoroughly multiple times.

Spill Treatment:

For non-oily spills like wine, blot immediately with a clean cloth or paper towel. Add small amounts of water to dilute and continue blotting—never scrub. For persistent stains, use a mild diluted dish soap solution and repeat the blot-and-rinse process.

For oily spills, gently scoop residue with a spoon, then blot as above. If the spill is chemical or stubborn, contact a professional cleaner. When treating deep-colored rugs, test in a rinsable area, as some color bleed may occur.

A rug pad beneath your rug will minimize friction and dirt buildup, extending its life and maintaining its shape.

Return Policy:

Returns accepted within 7 days of delivery. The rug must be unused, unaltered, and free from new damage. Return shipping is paid by the buyer, unless the rug arrives damaged.

Exchange Policy:

Exchanges are processed within the same 7-day window. After we receive and inspect your return, you may choose another rug or take store credit.

How to Return / Exchange:

Contact us at hello@sozenrugs.com with your order number and photos of the rug. We will send you instructions and a safe packaging method.
